Adventure Kits

Common questions

Everything we get asked about the kits — fitment, what they’re made of, the build, getting it to you, and the guarantee.

Does it fit my van?

How do I know which HiAce I’ve got?
The kit suits the H200 HiAce — the cab-over shape where you sit right up the front over a flat snub nose, with no real bonnet. (The newer model, the H300, has a stubby bonnet out front and the driver sitting behind the engine.) If you’re not sure, your build plate — under the bonnet or in the driver’s door jamb — and your rego papers both list the model. Or send us a photo of your van and we’ll confirm it. Easiest of all: open the configurator and match your van to the pictures. If it’s there, we’ve got you.
Does it fit the LWB only, or other wheelbases too?
Select your van in the configurator and it’ll show you the kit that suits it. If you’ve got questions about your specific van, put them through with your order and we’ll clarify everything before anything is cut.
What years does it suit — will it fit my 2009 or 2018?
1990–2026. Just select your model in the configurator — and if your model isn’t shown, send us a message.
Does it matter if mine’s a Commuter, crew van or cargo van?
Not really — they’re all the same bones. On some vans the fit can be a little tight around the factory plastics and trims, so you may need to do a bit of fitting on those models. If you hit any issues, let us know.
My van already has flooring or wall lining in it — will it still fit over that?
There’s generous clearance built into these kits, so in most cases it’s fine. I can’t say for certain without measuring your van — if you’re unsure, get in touch and we’ll take a look.
What’s the difference between the 4-door and 5-door kit?
Only subtle differences between them. We’d suggest going with the correct model for your van.
Do you make kits for any other vans (Transit, Sprinter, Vito, Caddy)?
We can — and have. If you’d like a kit for another van, send us a message about a custom build.

What’s it made of, and will it last?

What’s the kit actually made of?
F17 Hexa Ply — a 17mm structural ply, rated the same as the formply used for concrete formwork. It’s the best material we’ve found for the job: strong, stable and built to take a beating.
Is formply really strong enough to sleep and sit on for years?
More than. Formply is quite possibly the strongest bed base you’ll ever sleep on — and the way this bed’s designed only adds to it.
Will it warp, swell or go mouldy if it gets damp?
The ply is highly water-resistant. Getting wet a few times is no problem — but, like any timber structure, constant moisture is something to avoid. Keep it dry and it’ll last.
How heavy is the whole thing?
Have a look in the configurator — it updates the weight as you build your kit, so you’ll see the exact figure for your setup.
Does it smell or off-gas when the van’s shut up in the heat?
I can’t notice any smell — it’s rated E0, the lowest formaldehyde-emission rating there is.
How are the edges finished — will they chip or splinter?
The edges come sanded. Chipping or splintering is always possible with timber, but we take steps in the cut and finish to keep it to a minimum.
Is it going to rattle and squeak every time I hit a bump?
Assembled correctly, it won’t squeak. The drawer slides make a little sound — that’s just a moving mechanism doing its job.
How do I clean it?
A wipe-down with a damp cloth is all it needs.

Putting it together

How hard is this to assemble if I’m not handy?
If you’re handy, it’s a straightforward build. If you’re not handy at all, we’d suggest enlisting some help — and we’ve got a local guy who can assemble and install it for you.
How long does the install take?
Around 2–4 hours, depending on your method.
What tools do I need?
A drill, an impact driver, a hammer and a screwdriver.
Can I do it solo or do I need a second pair of hands?
We’d recommend a second pair of hands — it can be awkward to move once it’s built.
Do I have to drill into the van — and will that cause rust or void my Toyota warranty?
We’re not licensed vehicle-modification engineers, so we can’t advise on permanent installation — every state has its own rules on modifying a vehicle. For a temporary fit, the kit ties down to your van’s factory tie-down points using the tie-downs provided on the kit and in the van. For anything permanent, check your state’s regulations and speak to a licensed vehicle-modification engineer.
Are all the screws, brackets and fixings included?
Yes — all screws, brackets and fixings are included.
Are there instructions — video, or just paper?
Paper instructions are included. And the kit you see in the configurator is the kit you’ll receive — same drawing. Small details may evolve over time, but the configurator drawing is the base.
If I damage a panel or stuff up a cut-out, can I buy a single replacement part?
Yes — if something gets damaged, or you wreck a part, we can supply replacements.
Is it bolted in permanently, or can I take it back out later?
For a temporary fit it ties down to your factory tie-down points with the hardware provided, so it comes back out. For a permanent install, check your state’s rules and talk to a licensed vehicle-modification engineer.

The bed & living space

How long is the bed — will I fit at 6′2″?
Two bed lengths: Double at 1880mm and Queen at 2030mm. We standardise where we can.
What’s the real difference between the Double and the Queen?
Length only.
Can I sit up in bed without my head hitting the roof?
The bed platform sits 390mm off the floor. Whether you can sit up comes down to your van’s roof height and how you sit — the best test is to sit in your own van at that height before you buy.
How much usable storage do I actually get?
As much as you build into it. The configurator lets you add and see every storage module, so you get exactly what you configure.
Does a standard mattress fit, or do I need a custom one — and do you sell it?
A standard-length mattress will fit, though it’ll need to be fitted to your van. We don’t sell mattresses yet.
Can two adults and a dog actually live out of this?
That comes down to how you live and travel, so it’s really your call — the build gives you a full-width bed and as much storage as you choose to add.

Fridge, power, water & extras

Can I run a slide-out fridge, or is there a fridge module?
Yes — there’s a drawer fridge module available.
Does it come with any electrical, lighting or a water setup?
Not yet — that’s coming soon.
Can I add a cooktop or sink, now or later?
Not yet — that’s coming soon.
Can I bolt my own gear (drawers, racks, etc.) onto it?
We’d recommend using the kit as intended — modifying it will void the warranty.

Weight, rego & insurance

We build kits, not compliance advice. For anything to do with road rules and modifying your vehicle, the honest answer is to check your state and talk to the right professional.

How much does it add to my payload — am I going to be over GVM?
The kit adds its own weight, which the configurator shows as you build. Add that to your van’s kerb weight and check it against your GVM — you’ll need to run those numbers for your own vehicle.
Does fitting this turn it into a “motorhome” or change my rego?
That depends on your state’s rules and regulations — check your local regulations and speak to a licensed vehicle-modification engineer.
Will it affect my insurance, and do I have to tell them?
Best to speak to your insurer about that.
Is it safe and legal in a crash if it’s only bolted to the floor?
For anything to do with how it’s installed and crash safety, speak to a licensed vehicle-modification engineer about your installation.

Getting it to you

How much is delivery to my postcode?
Pop your postcode into the order form — there’s a freight calculator that gives you an exact delivery price, anywhere in Australia.
How long from order until it turns up?
Depending on stock levels, around 2–4 weeks.
Do I get tracking?
Yes.
What happens if it arrives damaged?
Take photos immediately and send them to us. All freight is insured to the full value of the items shipped, so we’ll sort it out.
Can I pick it up myself to dodge the freight cost?
Yes — you’re welcome to collect from us in Burleigh Heads by appointment, free of charge.

Price & paying

Why does it cost what it does — my mate reckons he could build it cheaper?
You’re not just paying for materials — you’re paying for the years of design, testing and refinement behind a kit that fits properly, packs flat and goes together right the first time. That product library is the value.
Are there any hidden extras on top of the listed price?
None. Everything’s upfront.
What can I pay with — and what’s this USDC option?
Bank transfer, PayID, cash, or crypto (USDC). USDC is a digital US dollar — if crypto’s not your thing, bank transfer or PayID is easy.
Do you do Afterpay, payment plans or finance?
No finance or payment plans, sorry.
Any chance of a discount, price match or trade price?
Our pricing’s fair and upfront, so we don’t haggle or price-match. No trade program yet — but watch this space.

You & the guarantee

What’s the warranty, and can I return it or change my mind?
12-month warranty. No change-of-mind returns. If something doesn’t fit, send us photos of everything and we’ll sort out replacement parts.
Who are you — is this a real business, and can I see a finished kit?
A real business — just a small one. A one-man band, building every kit myself. You’re welcome to book a factory visit in Burleigh Heads and see a kit in person.
